Our story

R101 Counselling is a home-based service situated in, the heart of West Auckland, Henderson.

The private practice was founded by Charles Graty in London before re-locating to the city of sails in the land of the long white cloud, Auckland.

Meet Charles

Charles Graty is the founder and counsellor here at R101 Counselling.

With over 30 years of experience in the helping professions, Charles felt he was led to counselling. Before deciding to embark on his counselling career, people in his life were naturally seeking guidance for personal matters. He’s found that his clients often comment on how comfortable they are with him to open up about personal and difficult matters.

Charles has covered a wide variety of areas during his career. He has spent a vast amount of time working with men battling with anger management and other issues, has had training in sexual therapy including sexual functioning, helped people navigate their spiritual direction and has experience in pastoral care.

He finds a passion in working with couples, helping men and women build strong, vibrant, healthy and loving relationships that last a lifetime. Charles is also passionate about helping individuals work through self esteem issues, anxiety, depression, grief and loss.
